Studio 9 – Shorncliffe Pottery Club
Working with clay, making ceramics, I am constantly experimenting and learning. Exploring the medium leads me to learn more about the interaction of heat, glaze chemistry and good clay technique involving experimenting, problem solving and trial and error. I draw inspiration from other art forms, artists and the natural environment and work with decorative techniques such as printmaking, sgraffito, brushwork, resists and textured surfaces. Multiple glazes are applied. My background is in making functional pieces, but a more recent direction has led me to experiment with alterered shapes.
