Try out some new art

Workshop

STUDIO 12 | Shorncliffe Pottery Club
Mugs and biscuit plate set

Come along for a fun night and learn how to use the pinch method to make 2 mugs.

You will also be able to use a slump mould to make a matching small biscuit plate, giving you a set.

You will have a choice of some underglaze transfers to decorate your pieces.

They will then be bisqued, glazed and fired ready for you to pick up in a few weeks.

Please wear closed in shoes and bring an apron if you have one.

Wheel throwing for beginners

This workshop will be divided into two sessions. The first session will focus on throwing, while the second will cover trimming.

At the beginning of each session, a demonstration will be provided, guiding participants through a step-by-step process. Assistance will be available throughout the sessions as needed.

Pieces created during the throwing session will be left out overnight to dry before trimming on Sunday afternoon.

This workshop is suited for left handed or right handed people wanting to learn how to throw cups or bowls. Facilitator is Amy – who is left-handed herself and has some great tips to share!

Afterwards the workshop items will be allowed to dry.

Once dry they will be fired and glazed before participants can collect their pieces. (turnover about 4 weeks)

Clay will be supplied.

Covered shoes to be worn, No loose sleeves on clothing, long nails not recommended.

Texture and Line Marking

This hands-on demonstration allows you to experiment with different mediums and tools to create texture and line marking to your art.

The Art of Assemblage

Participants will be given ideas of how to develop an Assemblage sculpture and the process to bring them together.

During this workshop she will answer questions while demonstrating various techniques.

STUDIO 5 | Studio on First - Coralie Bolton
Botanical Bees

Create a whimsical watercolor bee using Australian Natives as your inspiration. Coralie will teach you watercolor basics and guide you to design a bee to include botanical elements.

All materials provided, including 2 sheets of watercolor paper, paints and other mixed media materials.

Light refreshments provided at the completion of the workshop.

Tea light decoration

By using the slab method, you’ll be guided to make a beautiful tea light decoration.

As part of the process you will also learn how to do mitre joins.

You will be using a white stoneware clay and your piece will be bisqued, fired and clear glazed for you, ready to take home in a few weeks.

Please wear closed in shoes and bring an apron if you have one.

The World of Catherine

An introduction to Reason Gallery nestled in the quaint bayside suburb on the Brisbane northside. Thus enter the wonderful & whimsical world of acclaimed award winning artist Catherine Reason Macauley. With her love of fairy tales, myths, legends and the great illustrious art that accompanied their narration the focus of inspiration. And the human figure. That everchanging parade of costumes, textures and colours. An artist’s talk that is sure to be a fun curtsey to Catherine’s many artistic creations, treading on the past & narrating her newly curated body of work. Free artist talk, please arrive prior to 10:30am.

Large decorated drape bowl

Learn how to make a Drape Bowl and then decorate with adding texture or colour.

You will also be guided to learn how to add a foot ring.

Your will piece will then be bisqued, glazed and fired ready for you to pick up.

Please wear covered in shoes and bring an apron if you have one.

Crafting Creative Tools from the wild

Discover your unique creative style in a relaxing and inspiring session with Kylie Davidson,  Master of Therapeutic Arts student. Join her in her garden studio to explore expressive mark making, nature, and intuitive design. You will create simple, handmade artist tools and see where your creativity leads. All materials provided and you can take home the tools that you make. Don’t forget to bring an apron.
