David Cross is an award-winning Visual Artist and a Visual Art Educator for 40+ years with a Master’s Degree in Art from the USA. Retired, he now concentrates on his passion for oil painting.
David is inspired by what he sees, using light as a catalyst and how it reflects and imparts on the subject matter. Subjects are inspired by his world travels, his local environment and the human figure. These images are transformed on canvas, letting colour, tone and texture exuberate his starting point of imagery.
David is highly awarded and accomplished in oil painting, culminating in artwork collections here and overseas, as well as receiving numerous awards and accolades locally including the Clayton Utz Art Prize, Finalist 2017, Best of Show in the Nundah Village Art Prize 2018, Matthew Flinders Art Prize and Bluewater Festival Art Prize.
